Planning Update

Caravan Park Arnold - Refused

24/00922/PLF
Siting of 12 static caravans and change of use of land to caravan site
After attracting a lot of interest due to the application being planned for our parish within
Arnold, the application was refused.

The application received a lot of comments , as there was strong local opinion on this
application, with many residents expressing views

The breakdown of comments were :
Comments Received : 351
Objections : 320
Supporting : 30

Snippet of officers decision follows

The character of Arnold is that of a small rural hamlet with only a small number of houses and
very limited services, facilities or existing tourist attractions (only an existing public house).
The site is highly visible from the Arnold Lane West to the north and Black Tup Lane to the
south. The number of pitches proposed in combination with the existing site for 7 caravans
would be significant in proportion to the number of dwellings within the hamlet. The
development of a caravan site of this scale in this prominent edge of settlement location would
dominate the small hamlet and its appearance would be harmful to the character and
appearance of the rural settlement.
