🎉 £65,000 MUGA FUNDING TARGET REACHED! 🎉

Long Riston Playing Fields Committee is absolutely delighted to announce that we have reached our £65,000 fundraising target to replace the 20-year-old Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) at Long Riston Playing Fields.

Our final funding has been secured thanks to:

❤️ £5,000 – Bernard Sunley Foundation
❤️ £5,000 – Do It for East Yorkshire Fund
❤️ £6,000 – Sandsfield Community Fund top-up grant

These awards mean that, after just seven months of fundraising, our £65,000 target has been reached!

The MUGA is used extensively by children and young people in our village and provides Long Riston Primary School with an essential outdoor space for play, PE and sport.

The replacement MUGA will include football goals, basketball hoops and backboards, cricket stumps and target panels for throwing and ball-kicking drills. It will also feature noise-dampening fixings to help reduce noise from the facility.

We are incredibly grateful to all the organisations that have supported the project, including the Withernwick Wind Farm Small and Large Grant Funds, Burton Pidsea Wind Farm, ANDYS, Sport England Movement Fund, SSE Aldbrough Community Fund and SSE Atwick Community Fund, alongside our latest funders.

👏 £65,000 raised in just seven months

For a small, volunteer-run local charity, this is a fantastic achievement and demonstrates what can be accomplished when a community gets behind its local facilities.

And there is another milestone worth celebrating…

🏆 MORE THAN £255,000 RAISED SINCE 2020

The £65,000 raised for the MUGA brings the total raised by Long Riston Playing Fields Committee to more than £255,000 since we began our Play Park fundraising campaign in 2020.

We would also like to say a huge thank you to everyone in our community who has supported our fundraising.

Whether you have donated, shared our posts, liked our updates, attended fundraising events or simply spoken positively about what we are trying to achieve, you have played a part in this success.

Many of the trustees and panel members involved with local grant providers live and work within our wider community. Your support and positive feedback, therefore, really do matter and help us maintain our reputation as a charity that delivers projects and makes a positive difference locally.

With the MUGA target achieved, our next challenge is to raise £2,500 for a new CCTV system to help protect the significant investment made in our play and sports facilities and support the safeguarding of children and young people using the Playing Fields.
