ERYC Chairman Award for 2024

Long Riston Resident Announced As Winner

For Community Individual Category!

In late 2023 a small group of residents met to propose the nomination of a resident of our village for the East Riding Yorkshire Council Chairmans Award.

We were delighted when our nominee John Sherwood, made the shortlist, in early 2024.

This meant John would be aware he was nominated, what followed was a photo shoot and interview with John, normally someone who likes to work in the background.

John revealed the last time he was nominated for an award, he was beaten to the prize by a display of hanging baskets at a train station.

On the night of the 14th of May, at the Bridlington Spa, John Sherwood won the ERYC Chairman Award for 2024, under the category of Community Individual.

To give a condensed history John has worked for over 20 years to deliver real change for our community

Over this time, John has been instrumental in fundraising and working with others within the community to deliver key projects
